Beta Eta Chapter Ben Milam Mural Philanthropy The Ben Milam Mural Philanthropy is a mural contest (hosted in the spring by the sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha Beta Eta Chapter) for every 3rd grade classroom at a local public school, Ben Milam Elementary. The goal for each classroom is that they construct a large mural that exemplifies the principles of unity, love & respect. The students are then allowed to use their creativity in portraying these principles while also being reminded on how essential it is to work as a team. The classrooms are given a time frame of a month to work on the mural before they are picked up by the sisters and judged by the sisters and a selected group of judges. The classroom that best exemplifies the principles of unity, love & respect receive a pizza party and a class set of children's books for their classroom. The second place winners receive a class set of children's books for their classroom. This is a yearly event that both the students and teachers enjoy to participate in. The Sisters are always surprised by their ingenuity. |
Beta Eta Chapter Clean the Community in Greek Unity "Clean the Community in Greek Unity" is one of Beta Eta Chapter's annual signature service projects. The purpose of this event is to give back to the community and to promote unity within Greek and non-Greek organizations. All organizations that sign up to participate are randomly divided into different teams and their team leader is given a map of the area they will be cleaning up. Cleaning includes picking up trash at the designated areas. After cleaning the assigned areas, there is a BBQ for all participants and also a mural for them to sign. This is a great time where the organizations have fun participating in games and develop friendships. |
