National Headquarters, NJ — Redesigning the National Website of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. took nearly 2 years to complete, but it was undoubtedly worth the wait. During the 2003 National Convention in Houston, Texas, the 250 sisters in attendance were given a sneak preview of the new website, which was unveiled days later for the public at large.
In fall 2001, a committee of National Directors convened to plan the renovation of LTA's home on the Internet. Great diligence and consideration was given to the design of the website, as well as the introductory movie that would greet visitors. Design and development of the website was carried out by Samantha Ellman, a member from Alpha Alpha Graduate Chapter (NJ). In addition to internal resources, the committee hired a photographer who contributed beautiful candid shots of our sisters in action, as well as a flash developer – Robert Mann of Preferred Webs.
The collaborative efforts of the committee and flash developer produced a movie whose imagery depicts the heart and soul of our organization. It tells the story behind Lambda Theta Alpha and shows the viewers what sets us apart from the rest. The movie highlights the diversity of our sorority and the Latino culture. It illustrates our principles of Unity, Love, & Respect with metaphoric pictures, and displays our candid commitment to our mission by way of leadership, service, academics, and professionalism. This movie left the committee, already sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha, feeling renewed admiration, appreciation of, and enthusiasm for the sorority and our sisterhood.
The website itself has an entirely new look and feel. It is professional, sophisticated, and elegant with a clearly feminine feel. It has been modernized with its new features including the flash movie, audio tracks with sisters chanting, an information request form, and a sister's only section. The site is also rich with informative content that will satisfy our visitors—be they interested ladies, school administrators, or fellow service based organizations. We have featured a wonderful new collection of photographs in our Photo Gallery as well as throughout the site, illustrating each section. Furthermore, we have given visitors a clear picture of LTA's physical location via a map of our chapters, as well as our structure, depicted in an interactive organizational chart. While we strive to satiate our visitors' desires for history, facts, and information, we have balanced that with a more personal and "sisterly" feel by including testimonials, regional photos, highlighting the services performed throughout our various regions as well as the awards and recognitions the organization has received on all levels. Finally, we proudly emphasized that we are indeed the First Latin Sorority in the Nation as well as LatinoGreeks.com/NALFO's National Sorority of the Year 2001 and 2002.
As we enter our 28th year of existence, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. continues to demonstrate progress and growth as an organization, as well as in our technological development. This is evident in all that we do. Come discover for yourself what over 25,000 other visitors have experienced and visit us on the web at www.lambdalady.org.
